This video was taken in the summer of 2002 in Zhengzhou, China, Henan Province. It is called Chinese Opera Unclothed because the singers are not in make-up or costume. These performances took place in an informal setting -- a hole in the wall restaurant with a stage. Tea was served. Patrons could simply walk in, sit down and listen. After the singers performed, they walked through the audience and passed out business cards so that they could be contacted for performances at parties, etc. They are trained professionals, not amateurs.
