A Few Examples Of Areas Competing With
Our Own Area 57 For Your Attention

Area 51 -- Hotbed of Alien activity since 1947
Our humble Area 57 cannot possibly hope to get the kind of attention enjoyed by  the very famous Area 51, the super secret US military testing ground near Roswell, New Mexico, where according to UFO experts, aliens crashed in 1947.   I’m sure our readers are too sophisticated to want to see gruesome photos of alien carcasses like those posted at  http://www.area51zone.com/gallery/Extra-terrestrial/Aliens/,
a site that has been “curing paranoiacs since y2k.”    Of course the US Air Force poo-poos claims of extra-terrestrials, saying “anthropomorphic dummies” have been mistaken for beings from outer space.  The US Air Force found it necessary to produce a web page in 1997 to address persistent rumors:  http://www.af.mil/library/roswell/
Our readers can probably manage not to have bad dreams about aliens, or be abducted by them, without the advice offered by http://www.subversiveelement.com/AlienAbduction02.html

While its web site is not attracting the number of visitors that flock to the Area 51 sites, Rest Area 17 is very handy to know about if you are traveling in Wisconsin.  In fact, “[c]omment cards, surveys, and written correspondence from the public have demonstrated that Wisconsin roadside rest facilities are among the cleanest and most pleasant in the nation.”  The Wisconsin Department of Transportation maintains an extremely nice website concerning its rest areas, including a map of all Wisconsin rest areas http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/restareas/locations.htm and information on the history of rest areas in Wisconsin, http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/restareas/history.htm.
