Cuisine
by V. L. Parker Busy Sabineland cooks know how to save time in the kitchen. If you’re like me, you don’t miss Dr. Phil for nothing. Not to mention the fact that I’ve just got to watch my favorite soaps. The secret to getting dinner on the table and watching all your favorite daytime TV shows is Cool Whip and cream of chicken soup. Honey, if you’ve got those two ingredients in your kitchen, you’re halfway there. You can make this stuff during the commercials and not miss a beat. Here’s a sample Sabineland menu for y’all to try. Like we say in Sabineland, why be cookin’, when you can be lookin’? (At TV, that is.) JEOPARDY CASSEROLE 2 – 10 oz packages frozen broccoli 2 packages boneless chicken breast tenders 2 cans cream of chicken soup 1/2 c. mayonnaise 1/2 c. grated cheese Boil chicken. Then put your broccoli in a baking dish. Lay the chicken on top. Mix soup and mayonnaise and pour over chicken. Then top with cheese. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. You’ll be done by Final Jeopardy. DR. PHIL TACO POTATOES 2 lb bag of frozen French Fries (or Freedom Fries, if you’re into that). 1/3 c. margarine, melted 4 tbsp taco seasoning Pepper to taste Combine fries and margarine in a bowl, then stir in seasoning and pepper. Place in single layer on baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. With this quick recipe, you’ll not miss a word of Dr. Phil’s sage advice. COOL WHIP “PASSIONS” 1 cake mix (whatever you like) 1 med. tub of Cool Whip 1 egg powdered sugar Mix together cake mix (don’t follow box instructions), Cool Whip, and egg. Make dough into balls. Roll in powdered sugar and placed on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until done. Be sure to sample a few while you watch Miguel and Charity. |
