Barry Dunlap is the May - July
2004 Spillway Review Poet in Residence. He received his M.A. in
English from Southeastern Louisiana University, where he studied under
Tim Gautreaux. Barry enjoys coffee, sports, and spending time
with his wife and four children. Barry Dunlap on Poetry: Good poetry engages the senses. The poet’s images must grab the reader and pull him or her into the poem. The best poems take a tiny memory or part of life and convey a macrocosmic lesson. David Bottoms is one of the best at this among contemporary poets. Other favorite poets include John Donne, W.B. Yeats, G.M. Hopkins, Seamus Heaney, and Michael Ondaatje. |
