A writer, lawyer, and scholar,
John
Mark Tarver was a graduate of the Writers’ Workshop at the University
of Iowa and Louisiana State University’s School of Law. At the
time of his death, he was a Ph.D. candidate at the University of
California – Santa Cruz, Department of History of Consiousness.
His work appeared in such varied places as Ploughshares and Louisiana
Law Review. The editors have no doubt that Mr. Tarver
would have
been a guiding force and enthusiastic participant in the creation of
Spillway Review.
Accordingly, this journal of creativity is
dedicated to him.
