Queen
of Ambrosia
by Mary Grace Rankin When Elizabeth was the Queen of Ambrosia our good friend Mr. Roy was the Chairman of the Court Committee. His duty was to take care of the Court and most especially the Queen. Not long before the Ball began, after a round of toasting to her and her court, Elizabeth was asked by Mr. Roy if there was anything she needed. She informed him that she would like to go to the restroom. At that time she was in full regalia, heavily beaded collar, mantle, crown, everything. She was ready to step out on to the floor as the Queen of the Ball. Mr. Roy went off and returned with an empty cup. He handed it to her and asked, “Will this do, Elizabeth?” To which she replied, “Only if you hold it, Mr. Roy.” |
