The Spillway Review Poet in Residence Program

The authors of all poetry selected for publication in Spillway Review will be considered for the position of Spillway Review Poet in Residence.  There is no need to apply.  However, you may submit one or two paragraphs about the importance of poetry, what constitutes good poetry, and/or recommended poetry, and the editors will consider this in the selection process.

Our first Poet in Residence was Barry Dunlap, of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, who held the post from May to July, 2004.   The May - July 2004 Spillway Review Poet in Residence received an autographed copy of a work by Billy Collins, Poet Laureate of the United States, 2001-2003.

The August - October 2004 Spillway Review Poet in Residence,  Diane E. Dees, of St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, and the November 2004 - January 2005 Poet in Residence, Amanda Auchter  of Houston, Texas, each received a copy of the The Best Cigarette, an audio CD of Billy Collins, poet laureate of the United States, 2001-2003, reading his own poems.

The February - April 2005 Spillway Review Poet in Residence, Corey Mesler, received an autographed work by Billy Collins and a 2004 Louisiana Book Festival book bag.  (An exhibit featuring Spillway Review was presented at the 2004 Louisiana Book Festival.)

Consideration is underway for the selection of future Spillway Review Poets in Residence.
