Forgive and forget,

by David Jordan

Forgive and forget,
wise souls so often say.
Move on. Don’t dwell
in the past. An

event’s meaning
lies not in the event
but in your
interpretation of it.

Ah, yes. Often said,
seldom done.
Sometimes I forgive.
Sometimes I forget.
Forgiving and forgetting
at the same time
is like patting my head
with one hand
while rubbing my belly
with the other.
It is not possible.
