have been imported
to the rafters
of forty-million-dollar
Safeco Field,
new home
of the Seattle Mariners,
so they will kill
seagulls and pigeons
who drift in
from Puget Sound
and crap
on the paying customers.
Real life
invades baseball,
disrupts
the serene fantasy
of green grass, blue
sky, white ball. It’s a bird
