Migraine and Sleep

by Sarah Kanorwala

Migraine has crept up in my head's interior
She lies with all the new parts
She begs and motions with red flares

Sleep has gone, has vanished through my skin's door
No warning, No goodbyes
Those pills won't carry him back anymore

Migraine feels inclined to leave her remnants in my veins
She festers and bellows
She calls & twists for the pain

Sleep makes his round to the neighbors these days
He pretends he doesn't see my lying in bed
He warns Migraine not to leave my space
